Legit I've been going crazy thinking that jalapeños just aren't as spicy as they're supposed to be and thought maybe my spice tolerance is going up but NO it's a Brussels Sprouts situation but bad!!

i get the industrial motive for homogenizing jalapeños and adding pure capsaicin to make up for the lost flavor, but that makes me less interested in buying jars of salsa and more interested in buying fresh peppers and making my own salsa

They definitely made brussel sprouts substantially less bitter in the late 90s or early 2000
now I feel a bit deflated! I used to be rather proud of the fact that I started liking Brussels sprouts after 2000-ish and started doing most of my own cooking, but now I learn that they're just...less bitter. welp ~Chara
Yes they've been breeding the bitterness out of Brussels and these days they're super sweet and delicious and good
I can't complain because now Brussels sprouts are quite easy to cook in a tasty way; I used to think it was just that people were ruining them but maybe they just...kinda sucked ~Chara
