and that was because the Prairie Home Companion put up shows and clips of segments in RealAudio format.
when the format became obsolete, they didn't leave the media up (even though it was still playable) or convert it all to some other format; they simply got rid of the clips altogether. this page, for example, used to have a link to audio on it as well as the transcript.
