I almost hate that "The Man Who Was Thursday" still works on me...
...I converted to Catholicism because of you, Gilbert, and WHY? I have never been able to give anyone a good reason. a full baptism on an Easter midnight—somehow I didn't run away from it and I am really good at managing to be elsewhere if I don't have the stomach for a thing I secretly don't want to do. so I must have wanted baptism.
maybe it was simply this in the end, this cheap shabby reason: I found out that my RL mother had gotten my older sibling baptised (Lutheran—she'd been excommunicated after all) but with me...she didn't bother. and I think it rankled just a little. it was like....I didn't rate it.
I had to do it myself...
