we haven't been great at giving our system's littlest member, Kel the (Semi) Purple, some simple honest playtime. we overwhelm ourselves with grownup concerns (that we end up not handling anyway) and push childlike things to the margins...so we let Kel play around with some dollar-store toys—interlocking plastic discs. and Kel made a heptagram! almost, it's one disc short.

omg i absolutely love those disks. i need to find the old ones i used to play with
they're a little janky because, well, dollar-store quality, but that's sort of an advantage too as it turns out because you can flex things a bit and get shapes with different angles. I hope we can get more of them! also I'm thinking of maybe trying to make some other pieces to go with. if we can get wooden dowel stock of the right size, we might be able to make pins that fit the center hole of the discs ~Chara
It's always so nice to give the littles some time to take the body out to play. It gives the adults a break from worrying about things (for us, at least one does hang around to keep an eye on them, but that's not worrying about bills or work or anything) and the dopamine/other feel-good chemicals they make from playing does a lot for the body.
Something we do that helps us out (collectively) is set up tasks that need to be done in order for little time to happen, so the adults won't encroach into the mindspace worrying about chores or whatnot and the littles pester them to get the stuff done so they can have a turn fronting lol.
We just got a book for Karu and we'll let them devour it once we knock out all the stuff we've been putting off this week haha
scheduling things still feels so far off, it's frustrating... but it feels necessary too. especially on behalf of the youthful members of our system, who tend to get submerged by other worries. we're not...good at this. thanks for the advice!
