oh yeah. I feel like it's still a great source of trouble to us that we have memories of being good at things when we were, like, a teenager or maybe in our 20s, when our energy was so much greater, and now we compare ourselves to those vanished times

Muchly feel this in my experience of worsening chronic pain over time. Focus and reaction times lessened a lot over the years, and it used to be I could lift stuff to get work down. Now I kinda need assistance with say, a gallon jug of water.
