occasionally you still hear about some comical "debate" between a New Atheist microcelebrity and a reactionary Christian microcelebrity, and it reinforces my general suspicion that the propagandists from both sides have gotten very chummy with each other. there's a sort of ecumenism of bigotry—if an evangelical fanatic can make common cause with (say) a Catholic ideologue, then being pals with an atheist ideologue really isn't much harder. ~Chara
