the irksome thing about Flowers for Algernon, which I haven't been able to get back into reading, is that it's NOT trash. it might be "problematical" as the kids say, but if it were merely exploitation material I'd be able to hate-read it. instead, it's written with genuine compassion and therefore it hurts like hell. ~Chara
