Plants and I...have a difficult relationship. I feel like it's somewhat akin to the prickly rapport between John Constantine and Swamp Thing. I've clumsy and heedless towards the plant world, too scatterbrained to be good with taking care of plants, which require such constant care. But I'm asking myself...why exactly does it hurt so much?

Maybe it's merely because plants are among the world's living things that grow on the threshold of death. We all know the expressions about "pushing up the daisies", and we remember that In Flanders Fields, the poppies blow. Bones might as well be garden ornaments, if they're picturesque enough.
