For me personally, dedicating regular-ass water to a cleansing ritual gives it Power. Nothing that will rewrite a lifetime, but enough to matter in the moment. I've tried it with handwashing and showering both.

it's a good idea, and a reminder that we are lagging far behind in terms of building rituals for ourselves. there's a chicken-egg problem, however, in that we feel ourselves hindered from working on ourselves magically by inhibitory forces still lurking within or about ourselves, so it's like we'd like to do a spell on ourselves in order for us to be able to do spells =/
