search engines being completely useless these days for finding technical info, and now adding on language model crap to both predict "extra meanings" and generate answers, means we're effectively back to the day where the best way of getting foreign information was "go ask some person who seems to know a lot and hope they know off the top of their head, or know a book it would be in by exact name". tbh i prefer the librarian over mr google. at least if the librarian pulls out the wrong book i can tell them and they'll know what i mean and probably get the right book immediately
