I am not Muslim but I have been tentatively studying the Quran, and in order to assist my thinking I used an Android app (or did I use a mobile website? urgh I don't remember the specifics) to locate the qibla. As best I could, I aligned a length of red yarn (tied between two screws) to point in the correct direction. I can't remember exactly when we put that red yarn line up. Months ago, anyway. I've occasionally aligned myself with it.

Now I get to something a bit more subtle. I have put a lot of energy into interpreting the patterns of light that I see with my eyes closed. I'm always trying to take special note of things like points or spots of light flashing into view for a moment, or sensations of moving gradients, or transient sensations of color, stuff like that. Now...I feel like when I'm in that closed-eye state, I can sort of...feel or dimly perceive the direction of the qibla. There's a slight "magnetism" you could say, a tendency for my inner gaze to go in that direction.

How does this line up with anyone else's experiences?
