so, uh, I remember from earlier studies that Charles Williams had a Beatrice problem. he wrote what Dorothy Sayers praised as one of the best analyses of the Divine Comedy, The Figure of Beatrice...but he also looked for "Beatrice" in real actual women in his life, and was apparently a bit of a pest about it. where would I have learned about that? maybe from reading Humphrey Carpenter's The Inklings...
