if The Master (you know, THAT "The Master") ever manifested within our plurality, it'd be the Jonathan Pryce one. I like his style of revenge. And it will be a deadly vengeance, you know! ~Chara

you know, there's something in this idea: the Doctor dares to think of retirement, imagining that he can simply put an abrupt end to a centuries-long career of meddling with the entire Cosmos and retire into peaceful domesticity, like heroes get to do at the ends of novels and movies. and his reward is being pestered by the Master and Daleks and getting killed several times over (and finally becoming Joanna Lumley, but I digress.) maybe the Doctor doesn't really get to retire. maybe he can't, barring a miracle—"till the world is mended", as Tom Bombadil might sing. ~Chara
