you hear about Fightcade

Will try to avoid spoilers but I really like the game so far! It's kinda rough around the edges so I still wouldn't recommend it unless you're a huge fan. Still, it does a lot of things right. I like how they handled the open world. You have a lot of freedom - you still HAVE to start with the Bug gym, but after that, pretty much everything else is open. I was having fun finding small shortcuts and just trying to mark off every town to fly to later.

Plus, if they're going to limit the available Pokemon, having 400 available in the game is pretty nice. I literally can't decide on a team. Don't trust anybody who doesn't keep Wooper for the whole game though.

Look at them.

I know very little comparatively about Pokemon. It's a problem.

I figured I'd start with this one a sit certainly seems more my style of thing than any of the previous iterations. At least as far as I can gather. Hopefully this entry doesn't give me the wrong overall impression about the series, quality aside.

The open world is a big departure for the series, they pull it off pretty well. I wish some of the challenges would scale up if you accidentally skip them and come back later, but it's not a big deal.

In most of the games you have a pretty linear story where you beat the gyms, run into the bad guys sometimes, and (aside from Red/Blue) catch the main legendary Pokemon before the last gym, where you beat whatever evil team awakened it. The battle mechanics changed bit by bit and really settled down with Diamond/Pearl. There's not as much exploring in the old games but there's usually an optional area or two that you need mid to late game abilities to navigate (Surf, Rock Smash, etc.) if you want to go out of your way.
