i'm biased against the steam deck because i'm now expected to provide tech support for an experimental linux handheld that was released towards the end of my game's development no matter how many times i say the decrepit engine it was made in is only supposed to support windows. valve's gonna sell my game as a steam deck game whether i want them to or not, with only a little asterisk saying that it's "playable" but not "verified" as a warning

in reply to @ponett's post:

nope! in the spirit of pc gaming every steam game is theoretically a steam deck game. in all fairness i get that this is good for players, and i'm sure some more popular games get fan patches to make them more compatible. but now every new game is expected to work on the steam deck, because valve sells it as the magic handheld that can play your whole steam library

this is very topical bc i just finished SLARPG on Steam Deck today haha

besides dialogue lagging a bit during long play sessions, everything else ran pretty well, the occasional relaunch was no biggie on my end

But yeah, it really sucks that Valve isn't listening to you
