every now and then i remember the way some people are like "the chainsaw man anime doesn't match the tone of the manga AT ALL, the manga is so wacky and zany and high-energy, it's like a goofy b-movie! why's the anime play so many things seriously? why are there so many slow scenes?" and wonder if we even read the same manga. is this genuinely a comic literacy thing? people just skimming through all of the quiet emotional scenes between the action sequences and the funny parts because they don't have to stop and read the dialogue, and then being surprised when that page real estate translates to a good chunk of the show? did these people not read look back or goodbye eri for a broader perspective on fujimoto's recent work?
honestly i really wonder how many of these fans have only read part 1 and aren't caught up with part 2, where like half of the story is about denji not being allowed to turn into chainsaw man and being depressed and emotionally detached and going through his entire life making this face because he barely feels emotions anymore
