Next week marks the first anniversary of Super Lesbian Animal RPG. As such, I've written up a big postmortem going into detail on how the game's done, how I've been doing since launch, and what's in store for the future.

Really interesting post! I'm glad the game at least managed to be a moderate success; I was pretty worried it would fly over most people's radar like a lot of stuff tends to these days.
Good luck with the burnout. I imagine it's even more exhausting when you're a solo dev and can't just chug along with existing responsibilities.
me finishing the game and being unable to stay immersed in that world anymore, instead just kinda being ripped away from the world after everything, even just as a PLAYER was immensely emotional and even exhausting.. i couldn't imagine how much more intense that was finishing the game as its creator
,,hahaaa not particularly looking forward to that moment if i ever finish a big game idea
Thank you for writing all of this out. Wishing you the best with burnout -- it's rough out here. Excited to see whatever you do next, whenever it happens.
Theres an Allison mod for Guilty Gear??? Where can I find this?
i believe it has yet to be finished, but it's here https://twitter.com/duustedchesto/status/1609256212977307648
I have a roommate who had been working nonstop on a passion project, but started realizing the extent of everything around the game they'd need to do (I think he had asked you specifically about the steam publishing process), and the stress of trying to figure all that out stalled his momentum and put him into months of creative burnout
switching off of a project you've sunk a lot of time and energy into is hard for just about anyone. I have to imagine a similar thing happened to several of the older indie darlings you mentioned in the post
I'm so glad your game's release has gone as well as it has, but jeez, post-launch depression & burnout is really, really so damn rough. I hope things are on the upswing.
thanks for writing such a detailed and personal update! burnout sucks, i hope you can get through it.
Thank you for such a charming game, and I hope that your burnout recovery goes well. I look forward to whatever next things you do, from blogposts to art to another big project!
if the journalist was keza macdonald then I would not be surprised if that's the first time someone turned her down for her (imo very good) column because of the paper it's in, if it's not then games journalism in mainstream news is even more dire than I knew
anyway, thank you for SLARPG and the very honest postmortem, it's such a unique game and it was so interesting to read; and sorry for all the burnout
no, it was someone else at another paper. like i said, the number of newspapers that could be described as "platforming terfs and spreading transphobic fearmongering" is uh. unfortunately broad lol
