oh, yeah, any sort of randomized grain is the worst case for image compression, because there's no pattern to it that the compressor can exploit
the distinctive type of grain that some JPEGs use is a specific thing that's added back in as part of the compression, so that one doesn't count... but only if you want grain that looks like that exact algorithm
