I prettied up Aerial some more as practice before I do the Sazabi!
Learned several new techniques here!
- First of all wasn’t new, just getting some waterslide decal practice.
- I did my first ever hand painting to color correct the heel vents and make them properly grey. Did two coats of cheap artist acrylics, only slightly thinned with some water, and it worked pretty well! Tried masking but mostly just painted carefully and scraped off some overpaint with a bamboo skewer when it was partially dried.
- Did much more successful masking to protect all the glossy clear panels while I was top coating. I did two coats here, and this second HG has already used up my first can of topcoat spray. It seems wasteful, such a big can for so little coverage? Making me want an airbrush…
- The drying block is homemade, I cut a bunch of cardboard to size and put it inside another box. It works very nicely.
