It's difficult being an actual fan of Deadpool comics.
When they're done right, they can be incredible. You take the recipe of Spider-man, a quippy hero who masks his pain with comedy and faces great tragedy throughout his life and keeps going: and then you pull every facet to it's extreme.
It takes a lot of work to hit every note right. A terribly difficult balance that only a real expert writer can deftly execute. Many have tried and most fail.
And too often, they just hand it to people who go "haha chalupa man, lol random spoon" and drop the ball entirely. He becomes just annoying and pointless.
I'm very curious how the game Midnight Suns will do with him as DLC. They did an incredible job with characterizing each of the many personalities in the game, but I've seen too many generally good comic writers not know how to handle him.
Edit: I'll add one more thing that I think is the cornerstone of good Deadpool comics for me personally. He hates himself, he hates his life, but he will take on more tragedy if he needs to. Because the one thing worse to him than being miserable himself, is someone who doesn't deserve it feeling as bad as he does.
