a theoretically (but not literally) infinite podcast based on zeno's paradox: reno's paradox, in which the hosts watch the first 40 minutes of reno 911: miami, then 20 minutes, then 10, then 5, then 2 and a half, then 1 and a quarter, and so on until they eventually reach the final frame of the movie

it's a terrible idea for a number of reasons, but I think the biggest problem is how quickly it devolves. you'd be down to seconds of movie per episode by about episode 7. also I haven't done the math on how long it would actually run because you'd have to calculate the whole thing based on frames and since I'm not doing it, I haven't bothered. but I would be worried that once you get into sub-second viewings the podcast could run for years lmao

I think the concept is funny but I don't think it's remotely practical at all. but hey, if anyone wants to use it, go for it! other versions of it include:

  • dino's paradox, watching a dean martin movie (the wrecking crew or ocean's 11? idk)
  • zenon's paradox, watching zenon: girl of the 21st century
  • xeno's paradox, watching alien

this idea was inspired by me and lauren taking days to listen to any podcast because we constantly get sidetracked pausing to talk about it, until one of us eventually says "we're never gonna finish this episode" and unpauses the podcast. the original idea was a podcast called "we're never gonna finish this episode" which would be the same format but with one long episode of a tv show, probably the game of thrones episode "the long night" because it's the longest episode of any show that came to mind at the time. it's longer than reno 911: miami apparently. too long
