I haven't posted about bouldering before so this is an update on that

I believe today was my fourth time? The progress feels good although I suspect it's about to start slowing down, I've done all the V0s at this gym and most of the V1s I think? I finished (sent??? is that right?) four V1s for the first time today which felt great and I tried a V2 for the first time. And the second time and the third time and the fourth time lmao. Did not get very far on it

I've had an issue with stalling out toward the end as I get too conscious of how high up I am and become afraid of reaching for the next hold, but I think I'm starting to push through it. Last time, I had my first proper "oh shit I lost my balance" fall onto my ass and it was fine. Didn't even hurt! Just gonna keep reminding myself of that!

Things I know I need to work on at this stage:

  • Body positioning. Need to T-rex less and be more conscious of the angle of the holds
  • General stamina. I really start to struggle to make it very far up after the first 4-5 climbs each session
  • Nerves. Gotta be less afraid of falling!

It's still very early days but I'm having a great time! I bought shoes today! We're in it, folks

hell yeah! ive been heavy into bouldering this past year.
my advice for stamina is to just rest lots! bring a book and chill for 10 minutes while you chill off or chat to folks.
and to help with positioning and t-rexing i would try a drill where you repeat an easy climb but try to not bend your arms. It'll force you to pivot and twist your body to reach holds and show you just how much you can get without having to pull yourself into the wall and tire out your arms!

Yeah I've been trying to rest way longer than I feel like I need to because my instinct is like 30 seconds haha. I usually give myself a few minutes but it's still probably not enough tbh. That drill sounds like a good idea! I'll give it a shot next time
