well twitter just announced that it is now a policy violation subject to tweet deletion / account suspension to link to most other major social media platforms (tiktok is still allowed. the LibsOfTikTok loophole) including linktree

the funniest part imo is definitely the note on the policy page saying that, by the way, if facebook wants to buy advertising on twitter that's totally fine and we will absolutely take their money please please please

I look forward to seeing whether twitter actually tries to enforce this pathetic clown policy and if so, how people will get around it. tweeting "follow me on instagram dot com slash username" is now a TOS violation. wollof me on immediate grandma at u/s/e/r/n/a/m/e

Elon taking some moves straight from the domestic abusers handbook I see. "No, you're not allowed to leave! I've deleted all the contacts on your phone, you don't need them anymore."

I'm sure the rotting skeleton of what's left of Twitter staff will be able to enforce this policy and stop people from referring others to their alternative social media accounts.

ETA: Also I'm pretty sure this might actually be illegal, depending on the wording of the policy. At least in the EU the whole "We don't allow our competitors to have a presence" usually doesn't go over well.
