So these are painting made by my mother's first husband, who painted some abstracts like this in the 1970s - he did a lot of work in architecture, making passive solar houses, this sort of thing. Interesting guy.
These are oils, on large canvas stretcher frames. I think the left one is 4' x 6' and the right is 4' x 4'. They are really interesting and probably have been influential on my artistic tastes, having grown up with these enormous and stark colored abstracts hanging around my whole childhood. The colors on the left one are a bit more vivid (like the right) but I couldn't get it to come. There's bits where the oils are somewhat dimensional, but there's also this really interesting effect where the paint's been thinned on the canvas, resulting in the dripping bleeding of color.
The left one has always been one of my favorites and is nominally mine, though my mother has had it for years. Transporting it 5+ hours is going to be tricky, but I realized my mother and or sister have roof racks on their cars and I can have them bring it to me whenever I manage to get b-mitzvah'd
