I've been working on some things in my spare time - it's been fun to have a new project. I started out writing a couple of characters for Going Rogue 2e, and then things got out of hand. What if hyperspace travel was slower, what if there's no artificial gravity, what if habitable planets were rare, etc.
Here's little timeline a threw together to organize some thoughts. I have probably 2000 words of other notes I will not be showing right now.
| Year | Events |
|---|---|
| 0 | Beamships arrive; surveying and terraforming begins; date is conventional, many historians suggest the arrival of the First People occured several centuries earlier |
| c.1000 | Widespread terraforming efforts and settlement in progress across known galaxy |
| c.2000 | "Primary Crisis" begins, cause unknown; this precipitates systemic collapse of interlinked planetary economies; likely exacerbated by ecological problems on terraformed planets, due to pathogens and unforseen environmental changes; technology of the First People is effectively lost after this point |
| c.3000 | Settled planetary populations enter a period of growth, reversing previous trends |
| c.4000 | Unification Era: new interplanetary states coalesce, regular contact between systems becomes the norm; accords are made, planning undertaken to ensure long term stability |
| c.6000 | Succession crisis in the central systems; records unclear, chronologies fragmentary; conflict is widespread |
| c.7000 | Coalition Era: large multi-system states dominate the galaxy |
| c.8000 | Coalitions begin to fragment, factions turn on each other; wars are rare and limited in scope; despite mistrust, economic connections remain in place |
| 9080 | Senneven Empire founded in Belamang (Yevakadzi) |
| c.9600 | Capitalist imperialism emerges in Central Ring systems; economic and military into Southern and Eastern Arc regions |
| c.9800 | Peak of Senneven expansion; majority of Western Arc systems under Senneven control |
| 9905 | Consular Systems Alliance is formed on Calandria; several Central Ring governments sign on; CAS poised to become the central political power in the galaxy |
| 10119 | Senneven Empire begins to retract and fragment; economic and political connections wither; outlying systems revert to local control; CAS is now the hegemonic authority in the galaxy |
| 10181 | Annexation of Belamang (Yevakadzi) under Consular Mandate |
| 10231 | Annexation of Tamzagar (Dar-Kalbek) under Consular Mandate |
| 10257 | Now |
There are a few references to System (Main Planet) if you are wondering about those.
