i need to find a way to convert images to a bitmap (or anything compatible) that Windows NT 4.0 can use as a background, because apparently it doesn't like my bmps >:\
why? i do not know.
why am i doing this? because old things are fun

I think modern BMPs are too new for older OSes. BMP was apparently never designed for portability and has changed with each version of Windows. NTX & 9X; There's also separate variations of BMP apparently when I looked it up, as well as there being different file headers for BMP and various optional compression methods with varying support, which compounds matters.

Modern photo suites probably use too new features for NT4/95 support. Though I wonder if MSPaint would suffice...
