Whew! Just finished my first book review. Some of the other ones I’m thinking of doing are:

  • Future Home of the Living God (Louise Erdich): I really loved her work with Plague of Doves, so I picked this one up, too! I was not prepared for how anxious it would make me after finishing it. I was also not prepared for the sheer amount of binge-reading I would do.
  • Chemistry (Weike Wang): I got jumpscared after seeing it in the library again. When I read it the first time, it actually physically destroyed my soul. It was so fucking good. But sadly it was also soul-destroying so. idk if I’m ready to revisit that one.
  • Supergods (Grant Morrison): A non-fiction makes the list, but only because it was so fucking good. The level of craft, the little details that just made me want to jump around and explode. It basically induced mania, which led to a bad depression after.
  • Freshwater (Akwaeke Emezi): I picked this book up at one of the worst times in my life. This book may or may not have made me worse. Caused 1,000 points of damage. My heart was never the same afterwards. Would totally do it again.

Huh! A lot of these really messed me up (but in a good way). I really want to try and do a review of them now, lol

I was really inspired by seeing all the amazing reviews here on Cohost: My mutuals have great taste and I want to share the joy around
