daily knowledge: and today i'd like to honor the anniversary of the riots that changed queer history. 55 years ago from today, when the NYPD began a raid on the Stonewall Inn, one of the city's most prominent gay bars, the queers fought back. it was this show of gay power and solidarity that inspired the first ever Pride parades, held to commemorate the anniversary of the riots.
