Tea with Eichi was always something Vivian loved doing, and while she never was fond of the taste, she always drank the tea he had brewed without much complaint. It was relaxing, being able to spend her time with him like this—but it was just as frightening to be showered in endless praise when it was just the two of them.
She was never good at speaking her own feelings, and underneath Eichi's suffocating gaze, it was almost impossible. Vivian kept her eyes on her lap, fidgeting nervously. "I... um," It felt like her throat was closing up, cutting off any words she wanted to say.
Was there any point in saying them if Eichi already knew? It was probably unfair to grab his attention like this and then dismiss it, but whenever his attention was on her, everything felt so frightening. She wanted to return some of those sweet words he endlessly gave to her, but it was so hard. If she said them, would they sound genuine enough? Would she even be able to say them before they fizzled away the second they were on her tongue?
"Vivian? Is everything alright?" Eichi set his teacup down, a quiet clink, and Vivian nearly jumped at the noise. "If there's anything troubling you, please tell me."
Of course he wouldn't find her words pointless, would he? He was always so considerate of her, of everything she said. Vivian shook her head, finally looking up at him. "Um. Thank you. For this." It was hard to keep up with her own thoughts, but for now, hopefully he didn't mind just how short and choppy her replies were—even if she had more she wanted to say, she could tell him later, right?
