Not caring enough to wonder if this was a dig at Battlefield Heroes, EA's Team-Fortress 2-ification of the Battlefield franchise, which adopted the awful free to play model of cosmetics that wore out over time (all the way back in 2009, natch). Like you'd buy a nice pair of shoes from the cosmetics shop and every time you wore them a durability counter would tick down by 1. When it hit zero, those shoes would disintegrate and you'd have to buy replacements (or fall back to your class's default cosmetics, which never expired). It did this with shirts, hats, pants, everything.
Can't imagine why it struggled to catch on.
Anyway I cared enough after writing this far to find out and the Mann-Conomy update came about 14 months after Battlefield Heroes launched, so yes, dig dug.
