haha no not quite. it's just a sprite ripping tool. there are lots of things out there that will take an atlas and split it into individual images or whatever, but I couldn't find anything that was designed for actually doing the initial tile extraction. it seems like everyone assumes that you always begin by either pulling the data out of a ROM, or opening an image in photoshop and carving out every individual tile by hand. that's incredibly tedious and error prone, so i made something that just splits a screenshot into 16x16 tiles and lets me click on whichever ones i want to grab, then dumps just those into a PNG
