slowly come to terms over the last week with the fact that my Atari ST was most likely stolen. not terribly affected by it; it most likely got stolen out of my van nearly a year ago, and i don't really care because the ST is the most boring home computer.
the hardware is unremarkable. there's not many interesting addon peripherals. the software is mids. 99% of the games are inferior amiga or even PC ports, and unless you want to run cubase and pretend you're fat boy slim in 1995, there's virtually no applications exclusive to the platform. besides, if you want to run any of the interesting desktop apps, you have to switch back and forth between two separate monitors for highres and lo-med res modes. ew.
the box i'd been walking by for months, thinking my ST was inside, was actually my commodore 128. if that had gotten stolen, I'd have cried over it; it's both somewhat rare and intrinsically interesting. the goddamn thing runs CP/M, how cool is that? STs were just cheap macs for german college students
