thank you!! and kinda - 1 hour battles are usually 1h but for this one dami disabled late penalties (normally you can submit for up to half an hour late and you get a penalty depending on how late it is), so it was more like 1h 20m i spent on it, which i definitely needed for this piece lol

all of the compos i do are hosted on battle of the bits (https://battleofthebits.com/), and most of the ones i do are allgear (can use anything) or remix (use only samples provided) battles but there are lots of other battles specifically for particular music formats. there are longer battles ('majors') and also xhbs (like one hour battles or two hour battles) where you have a time limit (i haven't done any majors but i probably will someday)

i found the site pretty hard to navigate at first but you do get used to it, and most people talk in the botb discord (linked under 'chats' at the top of the site) and you can ask for help with anything there, people are generally pretty helpful. there's also the 'lyceum', which is a wiki-style thing about the site which has some articles which explain things a bit more :3

i've only been using botb for a few months myself so i'm still learning a lot, but hopefully that explains things, and there are a lot of more experienced BotBers in the discord who can help too if u wanna get into it!

ty :3 if i'm being completely honest i was sliightly disappointed it didn't place higher, as i was really happy with it and i've had worse entries do a lot better before, but all the entries were rly good this week in fairness (including yours!! which was one of my two 7s along with october's). botb is great for motivating me to be creative but also not good in terms of trying not to compare myself to others lol

Aww fhank you! Thats one of the reasons i didnt join it sooner, from what i saw back in the day it had a toxic hustle culture that theyve being trying very hard to get rid of recently. I have pretty serious insecurities so it took me getting a degree to think "oh maybe now i feel good enough about myself to join these people haha"

I had an entry last week do pretty poor despite putting a lot of effort into it so i can understand the sting... Don't give up though! It was a really tight battle!
