just stumbled on this DOS game, Mick (1994) from a Russian developer named Дока that I've bumped into a few other times, but in much less interesting games. i played this for twenty minutes or so. it's unfortunately agonizingly slow, but it's an interesting sort of exploration platformer, and it runs in 640x480 VGA at 16 colors, which is just not terribly common!
EDIT: Even less common!!!!!!! As pointed out by @ShadowHog, this is one of the PRECIOUS few games that actually uses high resolution EGA mode WITH THE EXPANDED PALETTE! It seems to be using it solely to introduce a pinkish skin color for the main character, but, hey, that's something you couldn't do in 320x200 mode due to the EGA's absurd limitations, so, damn!!
it also involves a transformation mechanic. you start out being magicked into a ladybug, but apparently later you turn into a rat and a tiger, among other things.
going to start saying this instead of videogames. goice, goicelikes.
