It's called Path Of Judas- its a Character Action Game-it starts with you as judas killing yourself and going to hell for betraying jesus- thats the tutorial where they teach you how to move and attack etc, but then he gets there and there's thousands of demons that want to fight him. He has powers in hell.
It turns out jesus' crucifixion was preordained by a demon conspiracy, and so was a bunch of other stuff- the fall of atlantis, the plague, the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs, the end of the qing dynasty, the rise of the Roman Empire, etc. the demons have a grand plan. Only judas can stop it- the demons are sending guys to kill him in hell to tie up loose ends.
At first he keeps his head down even though everyone needs his help from the demons-hot sinner babes and heathen children and so on (this is the first zone that eventually becomes a hub area), he feels like he deserves his punishment, but then Christ comes to hell in the Harrowing of Hell, where he forgives Judas. Judas tells him what's going on in hell-its a really cool, emotional scene.
Instead of taking him to heaven with the other sinners, Jesus gives him a mission-destroy the demon conspiracy from the inside-rise up their ranks and then betray them- this time, not for greed, but for good.
The rest of the game has hub structure as you go through 30 missions for the demons in hell, earth, purgatory, even heaven, learning about the cosmology of the setting. Each mission you get one piece of silver from the final boss, they are spent on new powers or health etc, like the blood in Hades.
