someone really needs to tell people that you can actually just say that something is a problem without having to append a word like "nowadays" or "anymore" or any other tedious rhetorical tricks designed to hearken back to some mythical past time when the thing you're complaining about didn't exist or was less bad.
if you must do this, i beg you to at least gesture in the direction of some actual evidence that the problem has come into existence or changed or worsened. if you cannot give me a specific date range that you are referring to when you imply there was a time when your problem did not exist, then you're probably wrong, and cursory research would show you that the thing you're complaining about has existed for a lot longer than you want to believe.
to lead by example: notice how at no point in this post did i imply that this rhetorical strategy is new or growing in popularity? notice how i did that because to say that would be insanely stupid because people have been making shitty arguments of this form since at least the invention of writing?
