god dammit am i really going back into my research hole to attempt to talk about a shuttered game development company that fascinates me for reasons i find so hard to discuss?
it’s Wednesday of course i am
i'm currently drafting up a project that's turned into something a lot bigger and a lot more investigative than initially thought, even if ultimately it's going to end up as some form of long video essay deal. hell, at this point it might be easier to draft this as a multi-video project! but i wanna make sure i'm not just covering my bases with regards to the games involved but also i have a lot of questions about the developer at the center of all of this.
like this may involve me needing to actually reach out to people for interviews, and for some of them hiring an interpreter/translator b/c i don't speak Japanese. then there's the problem of reaching out to people associated with a company that went bankrupt almost 10 years ago, let alone doing so with people who have not visibly been involved in the industry since before then.
but regardless of the effort required, i've wanted to take on this project since i first thought of it back in late 2021/early 2022. if you talked to me in private during that period you might know what i'm going into. it's a passion project but i believe strongly in the accessibility and preservation of art, media, and information. regardless of the perceived quality of the works involved.
