I think it would be cool you could tag a chost as a shitpost and there would be a third toggle on the top of your profile for “hide shitposts”
Just like. If people really wanted to only look at my art or whatever

it's a hidden feature rn but it is possible to filter a page through a single tag, not quite as powerful as filtering out a tag but might still be useful
Yeah this is useful actually! I can tag my art and link to it in my profile. Thanks for the heads up!
I was saying a while ago that I wish it were possible to follow a specific tag from a specific person, so I could have "#art from @pseudonymjones" on my timeline or whatever
Thinking about how Mastodon has this "featured hashtag" section in profiles (they unfortunately de-emphasized it massively in the 4.0 update that generally made the web app worse). It lists like the three hashtags you use most. I only use hashtags to post art, so this for me is basically an art gallery.
If you could follow, or at least link to, a person's feed filtered by tag, that would make room for a similar "featured tags" section on a Cohost page, or at least make it possible to fake it by linking one or more of your own filter-by-tag pages in your profile or pinned post.
(I've been trying to fake this by making some "personal" tags that have my name in them, like assuming I'm the only person who uses the #AndiBlogs tag, but this is not a sustainable solution and nothing stops someone else from spamming them.)
You can actually do this now—https://<username>.cohost.org/tagged/<tag> is a user-specific tag URL, which you can then link in your bio. The main drawback (other than being undiscoverable) is that you can't follow a specific person's specific tag, so this is more useful for browsing than it is for long-term engagement with someone.
yeah I do this now — at least on tumblr and ig where I’m more settled. I have a hashtag for comics in general and then a couple others for specific comic threads (autobio and different stories etc). I can swing that here by putting custom links to each in my bio which is fine — I didn’t know those were available here before this thread so that’s helpful!!
Making a space for featured tags is such a smart idea, I wish more sites would offer that.
my dude I would never deprive you of the stupid shit I have to say 😌
lol yeah that’s probably a bit more sensible. Looks like I can make something like that with links in my profile tho so that’s a useful stopgap. Lol, once I start actually making art and comics again 😅
i suppose that's probably what some people use secondary pages for? i know on tumblr i've seen some people with art-only sideblogs and they just reblog their art posts from their main onto there, so people can follow that if they don't want the other stuff. the same thing would work here, i'd imagine (though having followed you for a few years now, i honestly don't think you shitpost nearly enough for anyone to have an issue)
Yeah that’s an option! I think I’m leaning more toward hashtag curation at this point since I can link to tags on my profile and that, essentially accomplishes the same thing in a more flexible way.
(And,,,, you only think that I don’t shitpost very much because you don’t know about my locked twitter alt 😅)
reserving the majority of shitposting to a private account is the best way to go in my experience, lol. that way there's still SOME non-art posting on your main, enough to remind people you are a human being with a life and feelings, but you don't have to clog up everyone's feeds when you are compelled to be hilarious
