arc system works: we spent loads of effort into making a cel shading system that looks absolutely stunning and is some of the best work in the field to date. it takes a lot of fine tuning on the models and in the textures, but the results speak for themselves
me: I bet I could use this to make something that looks like a pc-98 game
working on getting used to the workflow for this. a lot of face splitting is required but I get get pretty consistent results! it's a little tricky because you have to be really conscious of where the outlines have to go using the vertex colours and I don't really have a way to visualize that in blender easily so there's a lot of roundtripping between it and unity
I'm pretty used to vertex colour fuckery though since I tend to use them as controls for all sorts of effects like outline strength and how much light affects a surface, stuff I picked up on when it was revealed how gg xrd's cel shading worked
