@fingerless asked:

curious about if there's any random Canadian cultural ephemera that pops into your head. for example, in Australia there was a competition show in the 90s called Who Dares Wins, and one of the segments was host Mike Whitney going into shopping centers offering various petty challenges with the prize of $50, such as eating an entire pack of sponsored crackers in one minute or having to fish said $50 note out of a tank full of slugs. now whenever the monetary unit of $50 occurs in my daily life i instinctually repeat "FIFTY BUCKS" in Mike Whitney's distinct tone of voice.

I mean it's gotta be Canada's own isekai, The Odyssey, y'know? This show was fuckin' WILD. This kid gets knocked on the head and is transported to a coma dream world. It had this weird, slightly surreal, kinda dark vibe that really permeated a lot of Canadian kids tv shows from the early to mid 90s

it's one of those things where it's basically a nightmare to track down now but it was SO WEIRD

I remember that show! I only watched bits and pieces of it as a kid though. (If it didn't have robots, fantasy stuff, guns, dinosaurs etc. and also wasn't a cartoon, my kid brain wanted nothing to do with it)
