like I don't mean "ohohoho just like all bethesda games" or some gamer snark like that, but like something about it feels distinctly... off. off and wrong, like something just isn't right with it. it's like going to mcdonald's, where you know you aren't going to be getting an Amazing Cheeseburger or whatever but it's Fine Enough and so you order a quarter pounder and bite into it and it's just... not good
like something is wrong with the cheeseburger. the cheese is halfway off the patty. the bun is somehow squashed flat and a little damp. the tomato is somehow like all core. the patty is practically rubber. you knew you weren't going to get an amazing burger but somehow you've been served a burger that falls well below those standards
and yeah, ohohoho of course it's a burger comparison but like bethesda games (and really most modern AAA games) are absolutely the fast food of games. they're largely without any real substance, they're lucky to have flavour beyond Vaguely Meat and Salt, just the kinda stuff where it's meant to be consumed more than anything else, but starfield feels like it's failing even at that and that's a real bummer
