it's fine. it's a well made 2d platformer and blah blah blah it's a 2d mario game you're gonna get exactly what you expect and if your platformer frame of reference is entirely like... big nintendo shit and the like you'll probably be fine with it
but I feel like I've played enough like... really cool and interesting 2d platformers to the point where if this thing released with even slightly less visual polish I wouldn't even have bothered torrenting it
I was thinking about this the other day but like the reason why I prefer Sonic over Mario, having grown up playing both equally, is that Mario doesn't have peaks or valleys. It's just a consistently Okay experience from start to finish. Meanwhile, a Sonic game could have one of the lowest valleys, a pure moment of just controller biting frustration... But then there's almost always a kickass Mount Fuji of a peak waiting for you if you bear it. At least imo
