like people say this a lot, I especially see it from poc here, and I can't help but wonder what can be done to fix that. The general recurring sentiment I see is that while cohost doesn't feel hostile to a lot of people, there's a certain degree of alienation
and I don't know how to approach that at all, but I think it's important to consider it? to be honest, this is a running trend in tech leaning spaces (which cohost very much is) because tech spaces also skew pretty white, but it's maybe buffered by the general progressive attitude that cohost being leftist heavy will bring
and the thing is that even that isn't going to solve this because you can see this being a problem in leftist tech spaces on mastodon as well, and eventually it ends up reaching some really bad points. I can gesture to the collapse of instances I've been on and even the defederation drama from a couple weeks back that people were clowning on as examples of this
this is rambling, I know, and I'm not sure what I'm even trying to say here. this isn't a "cohost is doomed" post or anything, but rather me saying that this is an issue that needs consideration, otherwise a significant chunk of people will never feel comfortable here when they absolutely should be able to
