Steam is absolutely lousy with deckbuilders, backrooms and vampire survivors clones right now.

Me: "Maybe I'll check out that Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion game, it seems cool and it's free"
Steam: Do you want to play fifty five thousand backrooms games? You can't filter them without just filtering the "horror" tag entirely because they're not their own genre yet

i don't think i've gotten into a fad genre since i put down mobas. battle royales and extraction shooters scare the shit out of me for the same reason i can't play counter strike. i have nothing against tarkov or pubg or slay the spire specifically, i just hate seeing trailers at the game awards for games that were clearly mandated by the bean counters to cash in on last year's fad.
