android's whole ecosystem is garbage

I already went on a rant earlier about the built-in keyboard and everything else, but the fact I had to download a fucking THIRD PARTY APP just to listen to my GODDAMN OWN ACTUAL MUSIC is fucking mind boggling to me. youtube music just outright refused to find any of my own actual files and gave me no indication of why or if they were in the wrong place so I had to download a fucking APP to do this

this is honestly pretty close to why I never had music on my iphone: I refuse to engage with itunes because itunes is garbage, but at least if I put music on my phone with itunes I could actually play it (most of the time)

its extremely even more insane because GOOGLE'S ANDROID USED TO JUST HAVE AN APP THAT DID THAT!!! it was called google play music and it Just Fucking Played MP3s When You Tapped On Them, as well as doing streaming and shit through their now-dead streaming service. it was buggy and weird sometimes but it literally 95% of the time Just Worked. and then google killed their streaming service in favor of youtube music, the More Different streaming service, and thus with it went the default app that just worked. in favor of. fucking youtube music.

I genuinely can not believe how bad this entire experience has been as an end user. I feel like every android fan who kept telling me how much better it was and how its baseline functionality met or even surpassed ios's was ashton kutcher and that I have been "punk'd"
