once again I'm worried about the game I'm working on getting either ignored or absolutely torn to shreds because of audience expectation
I think I have a novel take on some core systems that could be really fun I THINK but at the same time like... I've said this before, but the thing about making games in underserved niches is not a guaranteed success and the people who say you should target niches like that after kinda... severely ignorant?
People in those niches aren't like "I am starving, I will play anything" nearly as much as they're like "I have played everything and have developed very high standards because of it." and I'm like just a casual fan! I like fuckin raiden and 19xx and dodinpachi and zero gunner and stuff and I don't really get much deeper into the genre outside of the more well known stuff!
so sometimes it feels like I'm telling myself "what gives me the right to even approach the genre"
