I was looking at model railroad stuff on eBay yesterday after a long time of giving the place a wide berth. The reason for this was that DM Toys, a German model train seller specialising in N scale (1/160, which is what I have) is having a 20th anniversary sale. There was one carriage they had on discount that I really wanted, but I waited a bit too long and they were sold out. So I went to look at other sellers and eBay to see if either the same model or something filling the same role would be available elsewhere. And boy have prices gone up in the past few years!
I mean, eBay has always had many "the person who sells for a high price is not the stupid one" -types... but now the prices you'd be stupid to pay are prevalent, with only a handful of sellers still selling at the kind of sensible prices that were the norm three-four years ago. I guess I'm lucky to have bought the stuff I have when I did.
