i think an upcoming challenge with music is going to be deciding when i'm ready to start mixing other people's music. i'd feel confident doing it for a friend, but having a stranger pay me to mix sounds intimidating
while i like how my (self-mixed) music is sounding these days, i also realize that my capacity to hear subtleties is always growing. that's a good thing, but it also means that there are going to be fine details of a mix that i'm not yet capable of perceiving, which inhibits my ability to assess my mixing skills objectively*
*or as objectively as is possible with something so subjective
