taking andrew huang's music class a couple years ago was really fun, because he encouraged people to get weird, and idk it just felt like a space where i was free and encouraged to experiment and go out on a limb

even though i've changed a lot musically since then, i really like what i made, and i learned so many key things about the technical side of making music

it was just really nice having all the basics (not just technically but also theoretically and creatively) in one place, as opposed to taking in piecemeal whatever bits of information the yt algo decided to surface for me

(over time i do think that i've absorbed a well-rounded assortment of techniques and information from yt randomness, but it was much more a function of duration than of yt having any notion of a holistic and thorough approach to music)
