the cool thing about pinnacles is that it combines more typical california nature with geology that feels very unexpected for the region. like there are a lot of the typical plants and wildlife that you'll see here, but then there are super weird rock formations that look more like what you might expect in southern utah. plus there are caves!

what ties it back to the coastal region though is the fact that the geology is the result of volcanic activity. so yeah, it's super unique, even in a big state with wildly varying biomes. i think that's why it's my favorite nature spot in california
